Psalms 120-126: Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
Cries of the Psalmists:
Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war
- Ps 120:6-7 NIV
I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth
- Ps. 121:1-2 NIV
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels."
- Ps. 122:6-7 NIV
Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us,
for we have endured much contempt.
We have endured much ridicule from the proud,
much contempt from the arrogant. - Ps. 123:3-4 NIV
If the LORD had not been on our side—let Israel say-
if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
when their anger flared against us,
they would have swallowed us alive;
the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
the raging waters would have swept us away.
Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler's snare;
the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
- Ps. 124 NIV
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
- Ps. 125:2 NIV
When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion,
we were like them that dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter,
and our tongue with singing:
then said they among the heathen,
The LORD hath done great things for them. - Ps. 126:1-2 KJV
Some day, Jerusalem, Israel, and the people of God will be restored.
