Proverbs 3-4 The Path of the Righteous

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
   shining ever brighter till the full light of day.
But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
   they do not know what makes them stumble
. - Prov. 4:18-19 NIV

My favorite time of day is the early morning, just as the sun begins to rise.  There is little mischief about.  The only companions are the early rising birds who from the sound of their morning songs, have little to fear as well.  All the threats of the previous days have vanished and peace has once more settled.  I can believe anything, hope for anything in those dawning hours.

As the writer of Proverbs says, there is hope in righteousness as opposed to the darkness that follows those who would do evil.  A threat worse than mischief, the threat of very grave danger, follows those who seek the cover of darkness; those who crave the excitement of deeds not fully seen.  There is no peace in the fulfillment of hidden passions, only danger, no safe walk when one cannot see the end clearly.

This all sounds so preachy, so self-righteous, but I have seen both sides and I will always choose dawn over the night.
