Psalms 104-106: Leanness In Our Soul

They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. - Ps. 106:13-15 NIV

How this sounds like so many of us today, even those who would call themselves Christians.  We forget all about the wisdom of God.  We think we know it all, we don't need to wait on the leading of God.  He's too slow for the breakneck speed at which we live our lives.  He's old school, almost obsolete.

If we choose to leave God in the dust, he will stand back and watch us go.  He will honor our request to do it on our own, but he knows that the end result, the result of a life without him is leanness in our soul.
